Aloha, Las Brisas and Los Naranjos join together again to offer the best golf tournament of the summer. The Valle del Golf will be played as a four-ball between the 5th and 8th of August, with prizes in the categories of handicap and scratch and with two special prizes for nearest to the pin in each course. Inscriptions are already open.
Following last year’s success, the tournament Valle del Golf Open returns. Its format was so enjoyable that it is difficult to improve, so in its second venue the three day tournament will keep the same formula: four-ball stableford. Each of the courses will offer prizes to the winners, adding to the ones from the general classification. The prize-giving will take place on the last day, during the cocktail that will take place at Aloha Golf, on Sunday the 7th of August. The handicap has been limited to 28 for ladies and 24 for gentlemen.
Valle del Golf is the name of the area, famous throughout Europe, where these three golf courses are located. In addition to being the three most emblematic courses of Marbella, they share important similarities, such as Los Naranjos and Las Brisas sharing the same designer, the renowned Robert Trent Jones senior, while Aloha was designed by Javier Arana. During the 70’s José Banús realized that golf would serve as an excellent attraction for his recently built and luxurious Puerto Banús. The inauguration was attended by personalities such as the Prince and Princess of Spain, Juan Carlos and Sofía of Greece; the Prince and Princess of Monaco, Rainier and Grace Kelly; the Aga Khan; film director Roman Polanski and Playboy founder, Hugh Hefner, among others. Julio Iglesias performed at the gala. From that moment Marbella became the meeting place of the international elite, where they could go yachting, play golf, enjoy the best restaurants and show themselves.
