Save the date for the best European ladies golf at Los Naranjos Golf Club: 25th -28th of November.
For the first time, the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open will be held at this emblematic course which in the past has already been the venue for the Marbella Ladies Open among other internationally renowned tournaments. Apart from the magnificent location at the heart of the Golf Valley, Los Naranjos Golf Club offers professional players a challenging course combined with top class maintenance. This has all contributed to the Club being chosen as the venue for the final crucial stage of the Ladies European Tour and the Race to Costa del Sol.
Being the final competition of the female tour and not clashing with any others in America, the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open consistently counts on the participation of the top golf players – both at European and International level. So the tournament welcomes names such as local girl Azahara Muñoz and many others like Anne Van Dam, Georgia Hall or the emblematic Laura Davies. On top of that, having become in the last two seasons the final event of the Race to Costa del Sol, this event offers attractive cash prizes and as such, enjoys great relevance: ” To be the venue of the Andalucía Costa del Sol Spanish Open 2021 is not only an achievement to be very proud of but it also reinforces the image of the strong bond of Los Naranjos Golf Club with ladies golf, its growth and its media coverage. We should remember that this event is the ´big final` of the Race to Costa del Sol of the Ladies European Tour and recognise the importance this has – and should have – in the industry of international golf”, says Julián Romaguera, General Manager of the Club.
The design of Los Naranjos Golf, conceived by Robert Trent Jones Sr., offers a course with a different terrain between the first and second round, forcing players to start with a good shot if they want to post good scores, especially on the Par 3 holes. This, together with the facility with which the audience can follow the game from different holes at the same time and especially the opportunity to watch the dramatic arrival of players at the 18th green, all guarantee that this Open event will be an impressive spectacle.
Los Naranjos Golf Club has already been the venue for another event of the LET: in 1988 the Marbella Ladies Open was won here by the South African Laurette Maritz. Since those days the Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed course has changed a lot. In addition to improvements in the course, tees and greens, there is the extra plus of the excellent customer care: a distinguishing mark of the Club. “In 2019/2020 we were awarded the Golden Flag from the prestigious platform of excellent service 59Club, having received the Silver Flag the previous year. This award showcases our ambition in creating a superb hospitality experience committed to golf courses plus continuing to offer our members and visitors a top class, luxury service”, explains Julián Romaguera.
The Andalucía Open will be the first tournament to be held on Spanish soil since the Costa del Sol was awarded the Solheim Cup 2023 in Ohio. With all eyes focussed on both ladies golf and on Marbella, Los Naranjos Golf Club will have the opportunity to show off globally as one of the best golf courses in Europe.
